“I Raised an Orphan I Found on the Streets, But She Later Took My Husband” – Ugandan Woman Shares

Life has a way of surprising us in the most painful and unexpected ways. My name is Sarah, and I am from Jinja, Uganda. For most of my life, I believed in hard work, prayer, and treating others with kindness. Raised by my grandmother after losing my parents at a young age, I held compassion close to my heart. That is why, when I met a young orphaned girl on the streets of Kampala, I felt it was my duty to take her in and raise her like my own daughter. Little did I know that the very girl I rescued and cared for would one day betray me in the most devastating way.
I provided her with food, clothes, shelter, and education. I treated her as if she were my own blood. With nobody else in the world, I considered her a blessing. For many years, she lived under my roof and became part of our family. I introduced her to everyone, including my husband, who also accepted her. Everything appeared normal and happy. But over time, I noticed small changes. My husband started behaving differently around me, spending more time away from home and acting unusually secretive.
