How Years of Misfortune Shaped My Life

I grew up in Mbale, Uganda, in a small village where everyone knows each other. For as long as I can remember, I felt like misfortune followed me everywhere I went. It didn’t matter how hard I worked, how much I prayed, or how many times I tried to start over—things always went wrong. I would start a small business, and it would collapse within months. I applied for jobs and never received a single call back. Even in relationships, nothing seemed to work out. People would tell me maybe it was just life, but deep inside, I felt something was blocking my path.

In 2022, things hit their lowest point. I had invested all my savings into selling clothes at the market, but within three months, I had lost everything. My goods were stolen, and a few days later, I fell sick for weeks without a clear diagnosis. I began to believe I was cursed. Every night, I would cry myself to sleep, wondering why my life was so different from others. It felt like no matter what I touched, it turned to dust. Friends started avoiding me, saying my misfortune might rub off on them. That hurt the most—being left alone when I needed people the most.TO READ MORE, TAP HERE
