What is a microscopic root canal treatment in Gurgaon?

A microscopic root canal treatment is a treatment that is done under a dental operating machine called the microscope that enhances the operator i.e. the root canal specialists’ visibility towards the tooth and its canals. Hence, making the procedure more precise with better outcomes.

The microscope enhances the visibility by 30 times! And it is also done under better illumination.

A proper isolation of the tooth is required so that the contamination of the operating tooth is controlled from the salivary content in the patient’s mouth by using elasticated material called the rubber dam.

Why choose microscopic root canal treatment?

The magnification by the microscope enables the operator, our root canal specialist, to locate all those minute canals better, their positioning of the orifice, their entire path up until the tip of the root. There are times where the canals of the root might be a little curved and not an ideal morphological shape. In such cases, the cleaning and shaping of these canals in order to make them bacteria-free, the magnification comes to a great use.

With these enhancements and adjuncts, the treatment of a root canal becomes more precise and accurate. The prognosis of the tooth is also increased, 18% more than the conventional root canal treatment.

It is true that the treatment duration can be a little more when compared to a conventional root canal but it is absolutely worth putting that extra effort in order to save that natural tooth of yours!

How is microscopic root canal different from conventional root canal treatment?

In a conventional root canal treatment, there is no use of a magnifying microscope. The treatment is simply done under naked eyes. Even though the cleaning and shaping is being done, it is solely on the operator’s tactile sensation and experience. The success rate of a root canal treatment is also high but when compared to a treatment under microscope, it is comparatively reduced.

In a conventional root canal treatment, the reshaping of a curved canal or any other uncommon morphology of the tooth and its canal is taken care of but a 100% success rate cannot be committed. Chances of errors, like missed canal(s), partial cleaning of the canal i.e. incomplete obturation, over-cutting of the enamel and dentin, such conditions might be high.

When to get your microscopic root canal treatment?

There can be multiple clinical situations where microscopic root canal is advised:

  • To begin with, the first preference should ideally be given to a microscopic root canal treatment as compared to conventional root canal treatment, be it a single rooted tooth or multi-rooted tooth.

  • A previously root canal treated tooth that has a re-infection/ failed due to peri-apical infection. In such cases, where there has already been a treatment, removing the previously done medicaments and recleaning needs high precision and skills. In order to save the natural tooth, high magnification with increased illumination is mandatory, thus, preferring microscopic root canal treatment in Gurgaon.

  • There might be a case wherein a previously attempted or completed root canal treated tooth might have a separated or a broken instrument in the canal. In such conditions, it is important to retrieve the broken instrument from the canal in order to prevent any further infection in the tooth. To do this procedure, microscopic root canal treatment is advised. One should always try to save any natural tooth structure even if it has less chances of survival. The root canal specialists at The Dental Roots always believe in the conservative approach.

  • Young individuals like kids are more prone to trauma, for instance, getting hit by a ball while playing or falling right on your face while running around. These are one of the most common cases of trauma in young individuals. In such cases, there is trauma to the front teeth where the root might not have been formed completely. These are young adult teeth. They can lead to root resorption and can make the tooth non-vital. In such cases, it is advised to get root canal treatment under microscope in Gurgaon by our specialist, in order to save that tooth/teeth. A specialised filling is placed deep inside the root of the teeth; thus, the use of a microscope comes into play.

To summarise, magnification and illumination really enhances the outcome of the root canal treatment and increases the prognosis and longevity of the desired natural tooth. It is simple, our eyes can’t see what our mind doesn’t know but, in this case, even if our mind knows, the eyes cannot without any proper magnification and illumination!
