Hanlon house are the new sports champions 2026 of Namilyango college

Mukono: Namilyango college community is celebrating sports achievements after holding the climax of their inter house competitions over the weekend were Hanlon house trounced others to clinch the 2026 sports championship title to lift the prestigious cup.
The two weeks competitions featuring 13 different sporting disciplines concluded with the finals on Saturday 4th July 2026 at the college in Mukono district.
The event was characterised with a parade mounted by 24 guards of honor donning their respective houses colors.
The Assistant commissioner district inspection in the ministry of local government Tindizilarira Silver was chief guest during the day long entertaining activities.
He urged parents not to frustrate the efforts of their children whose hobbies are cantered around sports but to support and encourage them to excel.
Of the twelve houses that competed, Hanlon house scoped 473 points to emerge overall champions who walked away with a bull, trophy and UGX 1m cash prize donation from the chief guest in appreciation of their hard work on the pitch.
Billington in position two with 466 Mukasa with 441 points in third, Kuipers 436 fourthposition. Doyle 428 in fifth position while Kiwanuka walked off in sixth position with 402 points respectively
He commended the headmaster of Namilyango college Mpuuga Constantine Sajabbi with his team of dedicated staff for giving the boys an opportunity to explore their sporting talents which has become an income generating profession.
The college games master Christopher Oluk appluded the leadership of the Uganda secondary school sports Association [USSSA] for their continous provision of both technical and logistical support towards the college sports development programme which has enabled them qualify to compete at national level in six different sporting disciplines .
With the professional capacity building programmes of the sports programme in the college, USSSA has played a key role in sending in technical teams to mentor ,train and guide the boys in advancing their sports talent and as of this internal competition they sent us technical officers to supervise all the 13 different sporting disciplines.
The Centenary Bank Mukono branch manager Adolf Owora appreciated the good working relationship with the college as a strategic business partner saying the Bank shall continue to strengthen its social corporate responsibility [CSR] through offering financial literacy training programmes, sensitizing college stakeholders about the significance of promoting a good savings culture
The bank is supporting several high level national projects like the upcoming Cancer run, tree planting ventures, educational loans services among other packages of mutual value to the community.
Mpuuga thanked the college leadersgip for enacting inclusive policies that focus at training a holistic boy.
He thanked the college old boys Association [NACOBA] leadership for running a highly successful and the single largest SACCO in the country worth UGX 4.5bn whose proceeds are being ploughed back into the college infrastructure projects.
Mpuuga said the Peregrine Kibuuka Endowment fund which focuses at covering the school fees burden for their bright but financially challenged students to access education within the college has a cumulative fund worth UGX 350m.
He urged all friends and well-wishers of the college to support efforts of giving back towards the infrastructure development agenda.
