The 2027 African Games will be hosted by Egypt in North Africa. This will be the 14th edition of the games that embrace the entire African countries.

The development comes after the successful completion of the 13th African Games in Ghana on 23rd March 2024 at the University of Ghana stadium in Accra city.

The African Union flag was officially handed over to the Egypt’s minister of Youth and Sports during a colourful ceremony witnessed by over 40,000 people including the president of Ghana H.E Nana Addo.

Amid wild cheers from the stands, Ghana’s sports minister Mustapha Ussif and H.E. Amb. Cessouma Minata Samate passed on the African Union flag to the Minister of Youth and Sports from Egypt.

At the same event former FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura was specially recognized for her efforts and contribution to the beautiful game in the world.

The African Games in Ghana witnessed a record 29 games being played across 9 venues in Ghana’s cities of Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast.

A number of games as scrabble, pickleball, mixed martial arts (MMA) were on demonstration.

In Ghana, Uganda earned 20 medals from the different sports disciplines competed in. These included 4 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals.
