From Two Classrooms to a Thriving School!! My Story of Faith, Struggles, and Divine Guidance

My name is Patrick, and I come from Masaka, Uganda. I have always valued education, even though my upbringing was modest. After teaching in several private schools for more than a decade, I made the bold decision to start my own. I didn’t have much capital, but I had determination, a small piece of land, and a dream that seemed bigger than me. In 2018, I opened a small school with just two classrooms and 17 pupils, naming it Bright Future Junior School. My goal was to offer quality education to children in my community, even for families that couldn’t pay much.
In the early days, challenges came from every direction. I struggled to purchase desks, textbooks, and teaching materials. Many in the village doubted the school’s potential because it was small and new. Some even mocked me, predicting I would fail like others before me. I employed two teachers but could only afford to give them very modest pay. There were moments I felt like quitting, especially when heavy rains damaged the mud walls or when parents delayed paying fees.
