“From School Fees Struggles to Full Scholarships” A Thankful Family Shares Their Story

My name is James Ssekabira, and I live with my wife, Allen, in Mukono District, Uganda. We are blessed with three children — two boys and a girl. Like many Ugandan parents, we have always valued education highly. Over the years, we sacrificed much to keep our children in school, even when it meant going without some essentials. But in 2023, life became extremely difficult. I lost my job due to company downsizing, and my wife’s small tailoring business was barely holding on.
When the new school term started, we had completely run out of options. We still owed fees from the previous term, and the head teacher made it clear our children could not return until the balance was cleared. That night, we broke down in tears. My wife kept asking, “What kind of future are we giving our children?” We turned to relatives and friends, but everyone was struggling. I even approached a local moneylender, but the interest was unbearable. The thought of our children being denied education left us devastated.TO READ MORE, TAP HERE
