The minister of justice and constitutional affairs Norbert Mao has come out strongly to defend the embattled speaker of parliament over allegations of misuse of public funds in the house she captains saying it was all political witch hunts.

Mao said he very well knows my sister, speaker of parliament Anita Among very well and gets surprised when people come out and attack her that she is corrupt because when you check her bank account it's zero.

‘I know Among very well and right now when you check her account, she has no single coin on it as its in zero because she donates her earnings to individuals with problems, religious institutions, schools and public projects among others,’ noted Mao adding that she was a victim of political witch hunt and urged citizens to desist from mixing politics with development.

Mao made the remarks last Saturday while representing the Prime Minister Robbinah Nabbanja during celebrations marking 122 years of Namilyango College in Mukono who quickly noted how he would not expound further on the matter.

The public has in the recent past put the institution of parliament on the spot accusing its leadership captained by speaker Anita Among for reportedly maladministration and exorbitant expenditures among other sins which still raise questions.

He pointed out that even the college was one of such beneficiary of speaker Among’s efforts as she was able to donate 50M/= towards the college endowment fund alongside his husband Eng.Moses Magogo who sunk into the fund 10M/= for supporting bright, disciplined but financially challenged students.
