Victoria University Uganda Remembers Fallen Chancellor Dr  Aliker as a Patriot
Prof. Lawrence Muganga expresses grief while giving his speech about the death of of Dr. Aliker

Victoria University Uganda has paid tribute to it's ex- chancellor Dr. Martin Aliker who passed away on 15th April 2024.

Martin Aliker was a senior presidential advisor besides serving as a university chancellor from 2013 - 2019. The late originates from northern region of Uganda, born in 1928 in the village of Awaranga, south-west of Gulu, parents being Lacito Oketch, a Rwot (chief) and Julaina Auma, a daughter of Musa Ali, the first ordained Anglican priest in the region of the Acholi.

Aliker serverd on boards of many companies  like coca cola Uganda, Stanbic Bank, Uganda breweries, standard chartered Bank among others. He was also the former founding chancellor of Gulu university Uganda, a public institution in 2004-2014. He was a dental surgeon and business man.

The current vice chancellor of the university Prof. Lawrence Muganga has informed journalists, Tuesday, that Aliker was a patriot who served his country first in all that managed, he Implored current politicians to learn from the late's behavior of patriotism.

"As a university we shall always remember his good works, because he was at the fore front to champion the inception of Victoria University Uganda in 2013 until 2019 when he passed the responsibility to another person, an annual memorial lecture shall be considered in remembrance of his good deeds," Prof. Muganga told a joripress reporter during a conversation.

Asked about the burial preparations , Muganga, described that the government of has taken on the responsibility to offer an official state burial in respect of the his additions towards the development of Uganda. We are waiting to receive information from the state, he said.
