On Friday, 15th August 2025, MTN Uganda, NBS, Movit Uganda, Coca-Cola were among the top brands recognized as leading Uganda’s market, celebrated for their reputation as both household brands and socially responsible.

The event, held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, was officiated by the state minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga, attracting various business leaders, innovators, and partners, among others.

As a Telecommunications leader, MTN Uganda, which was represented by CEO Sylvia Mulinge was recognized across several categories, cementing its reputation as a market leader, emerging as one of the standout winners at the Brand Africa 100 Uganda Awards, including the prestigious Grand Prix Award.

MTN Uganda received honors for most admired Telecommunications Brand, Most Admired African Brand, and Most Admired Brand BRICS+. MTN Uganda was also honored as the Most Admired Brand Contributing to a Better Africa, alongside the coveted recognition for Most Admired Brand Doing Good for Society and Environment received by Bryan Mbasa, Senior Manager at MTN Foundation Uganda.

State Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga congratulated the brands for being recognized while applauding them for contributing to tax revenue and their social responsibility across Uganda.

“This recognition will intensify competition, improve services, and expand networks, exactly what our economy needs,” he said.

Mr. Joseph Kanyamunyu, CEO of Publics Africa Communications, one of the organizers of the awards, said the rankings highlight the need for local firms to expand spheres through collaboration between multinational and African firms.

“When global and local brands work together, there is transfer of knowledge, expansion of markets, and most importantly, a change in the narrative of Africa on the global stage,” he stated.

Mr. Thebe Ikalafeng, Chairman of Brand Africa said that “Brand Africa is a mirror of Africa reality. The challenge before us is to believe in our own. If Africans do not support African brands, we will remain economically dependent.”

The Brand Africa 100 initiative since it establishment in 2010, expanded through Africa as survey of consumer brand admiration, covering 31 countries representing 85% of Africa’s population.
