Uganda’s Elders unified, honored as Elly Kruhanga makes 76 years.
Organized by Odrek Rwabwogo an author, entrepreneur and Special Adviser to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to celebrate Elly Karuhanga’s 76th birthday as a point of contact, Elders who have contributed to Uganda’s path of growth, stability and development were convened and recognized or their noble national work under the tag line “Honoring our elders. Raising the bar on leadership and mentoring the young”

The event which was marred by nothing else but friendship was held at Sheraton hotel, on Friday 3rd February 2023 and attracted senior personalities from all leadership faculties in Uganda including former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, Matthew Rukakaire, Ogenga Latigo, Cecilia Ogwal, Chief Justice Emeritus Bart Katureebe, , Prof. Francis Omaswa, Ben Wacha , Henry Muganwa Kajura, Ambassador Gabriel Kangwagye, Prof. Edward Bitanywaine Rugumayo, Prof. Bazaana Tarsis Kabwegyere, Dr. John Patrick Kaboyo, Bidandi Ssali, Prof. Morris Ogenga Latigo among others.
In a pre-recorded video, The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said that people value the work of elders and pledged to support the elders with a special seed for their contributions.
“The Country values the work of some of our people when they were active. This is a moment to inspire the young people to do the right things for their country when they are still active” he said
Former Prime Minister of Uganda who represented The President of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said the event was an opportunity to mingle with other elders with great pleasure while handing over an award to Elly Karuhanga.
He applauded all the elders who have made tremendous national contributions describing the 21 elders as a breed of unique blood.
“There is none I have not worked with, you have always been humble, never lost your humility, always been frank and honest and always said what you thought,” he said

Elly Karuhanga who expressed overwhelming appreciation to the “conspirators” of the celebration, wished everyone what he had gone through.
He applauded each of the elder’s contributions to Uganda which he said has touched the lives of every citizen adding that during the 80s, he had many a lot of money through battery imports, but decided to give all the money to the movement.
“Beyond my wildest expectation. If you think about the things you have done, the people you have touched, you will be shocked” he said
Elly Karuhanga, a lawyer with Kampala Associated Advocates is also is the Chairman of Uganda Chamber of Mines & Petroleum, Consul General Seychelles among other duties.
Dokolo Woman Representative Cecilia Ogwal said “I don’t know whether it is the computer which has changed the culture, or it is because they know these social media things more than us but they are difficult to manage,”
The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Nobert Mao while applauding Elly Karuhanga’s contribution described the event as a reunion of cerebral material while adding that his work as a minister in the current government is an opportunity to serve Uganda.
“Opportunities have expiry dates don’t squander them. In a lifetime, opportunities can move you to achievement, greatness to significance” he said.
