Ugandan business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has received UGX 2.25 billion as dividends from his shareholding in Bank of Baroda Uganda Limited (BOBU) for the financial year ended 2024.

The payout comes after Bank of Uganda gave its no-objection on June 26, 2025, clearing BOBU to pay UGX 4 per share to shareholders on the register as of July 30, 2025. The bank's total payout is from its 2024 net profit of UGX 133.95 billion, up 15% from 2023.

Bank of Baroda Uganda Limited, listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange, is one of Uganda's licensed commercial banks majority-owned by the Indian government, operating under regulation of Bank of Uganda.

The dividend, which analysts say reflects Sudhir's strategic long-term investment approach, underscores how entrepreneurship and patient capital continue to pay. Sudhir, who started from forex trading in 1985 to building the Ruparelia Group employing over 5,000 Ugandans, has consistently invested in finance, real estate, hospitality and education among others.
