Sudhir applauded for investing in Uganda as Indian Business Community celebrated Trade Minister Sanjay & Nephew’s victory
The Indian Business Community in Uganda came together at Lohana International School for a special thanksgiving event to congratulate Hon. Sanjay Tanna on his appointment as Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. The event also included the celebration of the election of Tanna’s nephew Shyam Tanna as Member of Parliament for Tororo Municipality.
The celebration drew high profile dignitaries including the newly elected Chairman of Lohana Community in Uganda Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, who is also Chairman of the Ruparelia Group to who extended congratulation messages to their own.
Guests praised the longstanding role played by the Indian-Ugandan community in promoting entrepreneurship, investment and philanthropy, describing it as a key pillar of Uganda’s economic progress.
Speakers at the event also paid tribute to Dr. Sudhir’s long-standing investment and others entrepreneurs who have contributed to the country’s growth over the years, citing Dr Sudhir’s investments across key sectors of the economy, including real estate, education, hospitality, finance and agriculture among others.
The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for unity, partnership and continued engagement between government, investors and communities in advancing national development objectives.
While applauding the government under the leadership of President Y. K. Museveni for the appointment, they reaffirmed their continued longstanding partnerships with Ugandan business Community, while serving and contributing to national growth.
Hon. Sanjay Tanna, speaking at the ceremony, thanked the President for the confidence placed in him and pledged to serve with dedication, integrity, and patriotism. He laid out his agenda plainly: deepening trade and investment relations between Uganda
He also spoke to the broader investment climate, describing Uganda as an attractive destination for both local and foreign capital, and pledging to work closely with the private sector and development partners to sharpen the country’s competitiveness and accelerate economic transformation.
Shyam Tanna, the newly elected MP for Tororo Municipality, used the occasion to thank his constituents for the mandate they placed in him. He pledged to champion development, youth empowerment, improved service delivery, and inclusive economic growth across the constituency.
