A 35-member delegation comprising intellectuals, public relations officers of the Sri Lankan government, and policy makers visited KIIT and KISS on 25th August, 2025. The delegation, which is on a visit to India under an initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, is visiting Odisha in coordination with the Information & Public Relations Department. As part of their Odisha tour, KIIT and KISS were the first institutions they visited.

During their visit, the delegates toured different campuses of KIIT and interacted with the students of KISS. They expressed amazement after learning about KIIT and KISS, and lauded the efforts of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, for bringing tribal students into the mainstream of society through education at KISS.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Samanta expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for facilitating the visit. He highlighted the deepening educational and cultural ties between KIIT, KISS, and Sri Lanka. “We began our association with Sri Lanka in August 2019. In 2020, the first group of Sri Lankan students joined KIIT, and today more than 20 students from Sri Lanka are part of our University,” he said.

Dr. Samanta also recalled being conferred a fellowship from the prestigious Institute of Ceylon, which he termed a significant honour in his journey of fostering Indo-Lanka friendship. He said that India and Sri Lanka have shared ancient ties in many spheres. For centuries, the two nations have maintained strong cultural, social, commercial, and diplomatic relations. He also said many eminent personalities and academicians from Sri Lanka have also visited KIIT and KISS and highly appreciated the institutions.
