Speke Resort Munyonyo was among Ugandan private companies that shone in Barcelona by participating in the IBTM World 2025 exhibition, a global event where it showcased its facilities as part of the country's push to boost its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) sector. 

 Speke Resort Munyonyo, as key exhibitor was highlighted as a flagship venue with state-of-the-art amenities for international event organizers.

Its presence at the event in Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, helped promote Uganda as a destination for global events.

According to the management of Speke Resort, the goal was to promote Uganda's MICE sector, strengthen relationships with international event planners, and secure future bookings for The resort’s flagship Speke Resort Munyonyo Convention Centre, emphasizing its modern facilities and ability to host major international summits.

Uganda made a powerful return to IBTM World 2025 from from 18–20 November at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain.

 The Uganda Convention Bureau (UCB), together with 10 private sector MICE companies, proudly showcased the country’s growing capacity in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE).

This year’s participation also featured a coordinated national presence, with other companies including Gofan Safaris & Travel Africa; Matooke Tours; SGazelle Safari Company; Lasta Events; Lake Kitandara Tours & Travel; MICE Uganda; Hornbill Treks & Safaris; Serena Hotels; and Paraa Safari Lodge — Marasa Africa, the Uganda Hotel Owners Association represented by Chairperson Mrs. Susan Muhwezi and the Uganda Embassy in Paris represented by H.E. Doreen Amule.

 The strong delegation reflects Uganda’s commitment to bolstering its MICE competitiveness in line with the MICE Strategy 2025–2030.

Led by Director Rashid Kiyimba, UTB CEO Ms. Juliana Kagwa, Senior MICE Officer Ms. Tukeikiriza Mellon, Sales Officer Paul Mugabo, and Business Development Officer Henry Bukenya, the team is highlighting Uganda’s comprehensive MICE ecosystem—from venues and hotels to DMCs and event service providers.

IBTM World 2025, described as more global and innovation-driven, offers Uganda a strategic platform to demonstrate its readiness for tech-enabled, large-scale business events.

 With strong engagement in B2B meetings, destination presentations, and networking sessions, the Uganda Convention Bureau is reinforcing its core role of providing impartial advice, planning support, and destination expertise to international event planners.
