Ruparelia group, Indian Association of Uganda hosts Diwali Festival at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The Indian Association of Uganda together with the Ruparelia Group and The India High Commission held the 2025 Diwali food festival with the different sext of the Indiana community in Uganda.
The essence of Diwali according to the organizers is an age-old traditions, music, and food that honor the rich heritage of the Indian community in Uganda.
The Diwali Festival was hosted at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Sunday, drawing hundreds of guests who gathered to honor the Festival including head of the Indian Association in Uganda Paresh Mehta, Business Tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia , the India high Commission top leaders, Patrick Bitature, Chairman of Simba Group, Hon. Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation, who officiated as Chief Guest among others.
Minister Anite commended the Indian community for its strong contribution to Uganda’s economic growth.
“We regard the Indian community as a foundation of business opportunities for many Ugandans. You are investors, and the President is happy to have you. His Excellency will host the Indian community at State House on October 26th for further celebrations,” she said
She also commended Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia as an outstanding example of how hard work and commitment can thrive in Uganda’s business environment.
The organizing chairperson, Mr. Paresh Mehta, thanked the government for creating a supportive business climate.
“We appreciate Uganda’s favorable investment environment. Entrepreneurs like Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia are proof that this country is a land of opportunity,” he said
The evening featured traditional Indian dances, cultural music, fireworks, and over 100 food stalls serving authentic Indian dishes. Guests celebrated with laughter, light, and joy, reflecting unity in diversity.

Diwali, widely known as the Festival of Lights, celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. This year’s event deepened cultural ties between Uganda and India and reinforced the friendship that continues to flourish between their people
