President Museveni Donates 300 Million shillings Cash towards the Preparation of the National Catholic Youth Conference organised by Hoima Catholic Diosece
The donation was this afternoon handed over to the Bishop Hoima Catholic Diocese Rt Rev Kirabo Vincent Amooti by the Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah at OPM in Kampala.
Bishop Kirabo appreciated the the President for the unwavering support to church initiatives.
Hoima Catholic Diocese is hosting this year’s National catholic youth Conference from December 10th to December 15th 2024 at our Lady of Lourdes Bujumbura Cathedral in Hoima City.
The National Youth Conference is an annual event led by the Uganda Episcopal Conference an umbrella which unites all the catholic bishops of Uganda. The event gathers all the young people from across the country in a single place to share ideas, experiences, opportunities, challenges and inspirations.

The annual event is always rotational in the four different ecclesiastical provinces under the catholic church.
The theme for the conference is derived from the book of Isaiah chapter 40; 31 “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” as given to them by the holy father Pope Francis In preparation for the Jubilee pilgrimage due to be held in 2025
According to Monsignor Robert Mugisa, the Vicar General Hoima Catholic Diosece, the purpose of the youth conference is to bring the young people to Christ and also avail the youth with a holistic package based on gospel values and the spirit of patriotism elaborating that, the conference helps the church to revitalize the youth apostolate through the different messages and activities which tackle the different aspects of life.
He says the conference is to attract more than 20,000 youth from Uganda and abroad.
According to Rt Hon Nabbanja, President Museveni has accepted to officiate the official closure of the Conference on Sunday 15th December 2024 in Hoima City.
The diocese is hosting the youth event on behalf of the province of Mbarara mostly targeting school and non-school going youths from all denominations from the age of 12-35 with an aim of transforming their lives into better Ugandans
Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mandela, the Diocesan youth chaplain and Rev. Fr. Silvester Birungi reveal that the church is implementing its mandate of guiding, empowering and teaching the youth to live a Godly life
The diocesan Vicar General Monsignor Robert Mugisa says they are expecting very many youths all the country and beyond that has been confirmed to start on the December 10- 15 this year.
