On-colour Deco surges to final round with 2 shot lead in Entebbe | Pearl of Africa Golf Series 2025


The second leg of the 2025 Pearl of Africa Golf Series enters the final round on Saturday, 5th April at the par-71 lake side Entebbe club.
By the climax of the third round on Friday, on-fire Herman Deco Mutebi was still ahead of the professionals.
During round three, Mutebi scored 1-over-72 to make it 209 gross in 54 holes (-4).
“It was a tense third round but I held on well. I hope to finish strongly during the final round” a soft spoken Mutebi who is sponsored by Numax Cinemas and Aviation Africa revealed.

On Thursday, Mutebi scored four birdies on holes 3, 9, 10 and 11.
He had 9 pars and scratched 5 holes during the troublesome round of the three played so far.
Second placed Tadeo Rodell Gaita who was tied with Mutebi after two rounds played a dismissal 3-over-74 during the third round and he is chasing the leader (Mutebi) by two shots.

Round three’s top performers were Silver Opio and Opio Onito who both tied on 2-under-69.
Abraham Ainamani (70) and Philip Kasozi (71) also performed well on Thursday.
Twenty professionals made the cut after 36 holes and will partake of the Ug.Shs 20,000,000 prize kitty, staked by the organizers of the series.
Irene Nakalembe is the only lady who made the cut. The other (Evah Magala) did not progress past the second round.

Meanwhile, in the gross category, Entebbe based Elton Thembo won with a total gross of 196 gross in 54 holes.
Thembo beat the duo of Joseph Reagan Akena and Michael Tumusiime by a shot.
Joseph Kasozi (201), Shashank Gadre (214), Peter Tumusiime (203), Godfrey Kambale (215), Joseph Cwinya-ai (215), Titus Okwong (217) and Samuel Bazaale (205) completed the top 10.
A total of 64 gross players played in the championship.
The prize fund for the gross amateurs is Ug.Shs 5,000,000.
The fourth and final round will be played on Friday, 4th April 2025.
The subsidiary category golfers will play alongside the professionals on the final day before the official prize giving ceremony.

The opening leg was played at the Uganda Golf Club (Kampala) with the second one held in Entebbe.
The third and final leg of the series shall be hosted in Lugazi come June.
