NPP presidential flag bearer Robert Kasibante nominated.

The presidential flag bearer of the National Peasants Party (NPP) Mr. Robert Kasibante, the National Peasants Party (NPP), was on Tuesday 23rd September 2025 officially nominated to contest in Uganda’s 2026 general elections. 

At the new electoral commission premises in Lubowa, the Electoral Commission nominated him second to the NRM’s flag bearer President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

He was later given official 16-guard security detail and a vehicle with registration UG0300006.

Just after nominations Robert Kasibante called for citizen-led change and inclusive development. 

“We must break the walls of inequality. Restore dignity. The teachers, the nurses deserve a future that is certain," he said.

"To the international community, we invite you to build a new model of inclusive development. We are the majority empowered, not exploited. I come with courage, unbreakable will. I come to you. This is your campaign."

He said his focus will emphasize empowerment, equity, and a grassroots approach to governance, signaling a bid to connect directly with ordinary Ugandans.

The National Peasants Party has over the years been advocating for rural development and farmers’ rights.

 Sharif Ssentongo Nambale, the Secretary General of the National Peasants Party (NPP), while setting off from the party headquarters earlier on Tuesday commended  the peasant across the country for supporting the vision of their party. 

He recently unveiled the party’s leadership plan for the 2026 General Election for the party founded in 2004 by Hajj Elias Wamala Miyagi and others saying that NPP is committed to addressing the everyday struggles of Ugandans and plans to field candidates from the village level to the presidency, with the aim of challenging President Museveni’s four-decade rule.
