In the effort to resolve the land ownership saga between Kiham Limited and Buganda Land Board, the Ministry of Lands and Housing and Urban Development has decided to carry out a joint boundary opening review to ascertain the irregularities existing on the contested land in Kigo.

According to the letter dated May 24, Opio Henry Ogenyi, the Principal Land Management Officer, directed the chairperson of the board to issue boundaries.

“There is a need for boundary opening of plots 23974,23975,23976 and 23977 in relation to plot 38 all Kyadondo block 273. I thank you for your cooperation,” it partly reads

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Lands on June, 2nd 2022, it was resolved that a final symposium be convened on Tuesday, June, 14th 2022 after which all parties and the ministry shall proceed with a joint boundary opening survey to finally resolve the matter.

According to tycoon Hamis Kiggundu, the call for a joint boundary opening survey is meant to draw a line between the public land and mailo land.

Ham however said that to everyone’s surprise “Buganda Land Board fraudsters are maliciously spreading falsehood, blackmail and cheap propaganda” that: “the ministry concluded that Kigo land belongs to Buganda Land Board” undermining all values of Buganda Kingdom, Uganda’s legal structure as a country and integrity of the Kabaka.

“This is a technical issue that requires a technical approach and procedure not cheap politics and propaganda to unlawfully, fraudulently, disrespectfully and deceptively steal land from ordinary Ugandans and Kabaka’s subjects,” Ham explained.

The Businessman Hamis Kiggundu through his company Kiham Enterprises Uganda Limited confirmed with documents the ownership of Kyadondo Block 273 Plots 23974, 23975, 23976, & 23977, land at Kigo, totaling 37.767 Hectares/93.322 Acres which the Buganda Kingdom claims is theirs.

He co-owns the real estate company with his uncle Edward Nakibinge Kaggwa (Ham owns 99 percent shares whereas Nakibinge owns 1 percent).

The said land under review is situated between Serena-Kigo and Mirembe Villas land, off Munyonyo Spur Road, and extends inwards sharing common boundaries with Serena-Kigo, Mirembe Villas and the Lake. It has a usable acreage of 78.086 Acres whereas 15.236 Acres incorporate access roads.
