- A: Lubiri S.S, Kawempe Muslim S.S, Lake Side Luzira S.S, Ahamadiyah S.S, St Mbuga Vocational School
- B: Kibuli Secondary School, Old Kampala S.S, Bishop Cyprian School, Kazo Hill S.S, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga
The battle for the four slots to the nationals of the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) boy’s football from Kampala will commence early April.
This follows the successful completion of the qualifiers at the five divisions within Kampala; Makindye, Rubaga, Central, Kawempe and Nakawa.
Upon the completion of qualifiers within the divisions, attention swiftly switches to the treasured champions league.
The ten successful schools (two from every division) were pooled into two groups (A and B) during the draw on Tuesday, 26th March 2024.
In group A; there is Lubiri Secondary School, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Lake Side Luzira Secondary School, Ahamadiyah Secondary School and St Mbuga Vocational School.
The schools pooled in group B are record champions Kibuli Secondary School, Old Kampala S.S, Cyprian, Kazo Hill Secondary School, and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga.
Emuron Recoba, head coach at Kibuli Secondary School tagged the draw as fair-enough and yearns to give a 100 percent performance to ensure progress to the nationals.
“The champions league is fair-enough. As Kibuli S.S, our prime target is to win every game before us and qualify for the nationals. We intend to use the upcoming UMEA Muslim Solidarity Games due in Masaka city as a precursor to the champions league” Recoba stated.
Two schools will qualify per group to the semi-finals and eventually finals to determine the champion of Kampala zone.
All the semi-finalists will book their slots to the 2024 USSSA football nationals due to be hosted in Masaka.
