The inaugural Kampala-Kigali Fashion Week (KKFW has been set for this Friday 24th February 2023 at Win 5 Hotel former Peal of Africa Hotel in Nakasero Kampala. This follow a series of Kigali International fashion weeks over the years, which according to the organisers has been chosen to be hosted in Kampala with the aim of the two countries to collaborate and produce combined fashion event for sharing values of the fashion sub-sector.

During a press conference to launch the event held on Tuesday 21st February 2023 at Win 5 hotel, the organisers of the fashion week said that at least 500-600 guests, including journalists, celebrities and social media influencers from both Uganda and Rwanda, have been invited to attend the highly-awaited fashion extravaganza.

The theme of KKFW will be: “Development. Integration. Diversity. Inclusion”

The CEO Kampla-Kigali Fashion Week, John Bunyeshuli pictured above said, “This year we decided to have KKFW in Kampala for our opening of the new chapter of our brand.  It’s Kigali-Kampala Fashion Week just like we could have Kigali-Havana Fashion Week, Kigali-Tokyo Fashion Week or Kigali-DC Fashion Week,”

He added that the Kigali International Fashion Week brands itself as a globe trotter around the world promoting Rwanda’s creative industry, mainly fashion.

“Kampala–Kigali Fashion Week is a vital voice in changing the narrative towards African originality in fashion. It is focused on promoting collaboration between the youth of Uganda and Rwanda using fashion as a foundation” he said

Grace Namutebi, Brand Manager, Aquafina, Crown Beverages Ltd

Crown Beverages Brand Ambassador of the Aquafina water, Grace Namutebi who are part of the sponsors of the fashion week said they decided to partner with the brand because it reflects the same ideology of recognising fashion platforms and as an international brand too like Pepsi products.

Ivan Mugisha, The Country Director Rwanda Air, attributed their partnership to their interests such as corporate social responsibility.

“The interests in fashion resonate with our cooperate social responsibility initiative. We have to support fashion and grow with the brand” he said  

The Kigali International Fashion Week been previously held in London, United Kingdom, Tokyo in Japan, New York in the United States, Switzerland, Holland, Germany and Belgium

Tickets can be accesses at the gate, from organisers and other outlets at a fee of UGX150,000 Ordinary and UGX 3Million for table of 6 people coupled with drinks and eats.
