IUEA scoops 2021 Visionaries of Uganda Best Online Teaching University Award
IUEA won the Best online teaching international university also recently launched the Emerging Technology Park to strengthen the digital learning for higher institution
International University of East emerged the best online teaching international university of the years during the 9th Visionaries of Uganda Awards that recognizes excellence in various sectors and subsectors in Uganda.
The awards also celebrate institutional and individual achievements and understanding related challenges plus opportunities for better performance.
The award was handed over by The Vice President of Uganda Hon Jesca Alupo to IUEA Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa during a glamorous ceremony held at Serena Hotel on 2nd December 2021.
After winning the award IUEA took it to online platforms in picture above to celebrate the victory. “Another Packed away!. We've won another award, however this time it's extraordinary. IUEA has been perceived as the Best Online Teaching Educating University of the year 2021!
In relation to Uganda's Middle-Income status Aspiration and Vision 2040.
This award was presented by the Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo” the statement read
While officiating at the Award ceremony held on 2nd December 2021, The Vice President of Uganda Jessica Alupo highlighted that in order to transform the economy, there is need to focus on development of individual and organization entrepreneur mindset that market centered.
“I therefore take this opportunity to inform everybody that Uganda needs organizations and entrepreneurial minded people who are market driven, and ones who meet the expectations of our people, economy and society. Let me also emphasize that the ultimate consumer of your products and services are the ones who judge your performance by way of choosing or rejecting your products and services. This is therefore a wakeup call to everyone to understand the dynamics of the market place where quality prevails over everything else” she said
This year’s theme was “Recognizing continued Social, Economic transformation of Uganda and strengthening the fundamentals of the economy to achieve Uganda Vision 2040 amidstCOVID-19 challenges”
The winners of the Visionaries of Uganda awards, like IUEA in above picture, according to the organisers, are selected by the Ugandan people for their outstanding contribution towards the country’s aspiration for middle-income status and Vision 2040.
Directorate of industrial Training was among the winners that scooped the award for the best Technical, Vocational and education quality assurance Body for the third time consecutively.
Meanwhile IUEA recently unveiled a new plan for Emerging Technology Park, a design that was made by their own student in abid to strengthen the digital learning for higher institution.
The ministry for education and sports joined IUEA in launching a technology park at the International University of East Africa during th 8th graduation ceremony where over 500 graduands received their awards in different professions
The commissioner ministry for education and sports George Mutekanga during the launch of the Technology Park applauded IUEA the achievement despite the COVID-19 of implementing the technology park under the theme of continuing with university education post COVID-19.
According to professor Emeka Akaezuwa the university vice chancellor he said that,” there is need to view ICT as part of education structure but with the problem of data and internet issues that comes along with the new normal it really hinders performance and makes students work difficult however the new normal requires independent working skills and as higher education institutions together with the help of government we must rethink the education for universities post COVID-19 error,” he said.
