From Raw Data to Real Opportunity: Axiom Zorn Unveils DARB AI at the 2026 FINTECH Conference
KAMPALA, UGANDA — Ugandan data and technology firm Axiom Zorn has officially launched DARB AI (Digital Agriculture Reference Bureau), an artificial intelligence platform designed to convert fragmented African agricultural and small-business data into actionable intelligence.
Unveiled at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel during the FITSPA Annual Fintech Conference 2026 under the theme “From African Data to African Intelligence,” the platform aims to bridge a critical information gap that has long hindered lending, risk assessment, and market access across the continent's agricultural sector.
Rachel Vanessa Muhwezi, The Assistant Commissioner for Micro-Finance Regulation, Ministry of Finance, to strengthen protection of consumers to drive public trust.
“As government we support FinTech enterprises because they are bringing solutions to the private sector and solving consumer problems especially access to credit. We are asking them to uphold consumer protection. As they build solutions, the solutions should be trusted and we should have financial services that have integrity,” she said
Turning Fragmented Information into Action:
Across Africa, farmers, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and agribusinesses generate vast amounts of data daily. However, this information remains largely unorganized, leaving producers unable to prove their creditworthiness and financial institutions hesitant to lend.
DARB AI addresses this disconnect by compiling structured profiles and applying advanced analytics across several core areas:
- Digital Profiling: Builds comprehensive farmer and SME profiles using over 300 data points.
- Financial Readiness & Credit Scoring: Generates context-rich lending intelligence to help banks evaluate risk responsibly.
- Agronomy & Climate Insights: Delivers crop, production, and climate risk data.
- Market & Trade Intelligence: Connects producers directly with viable market opportunities.
- AI-Powered Advisory: Provides interactive, data-driven answers to daily agricultural and business challenges.
“Data becomes powerful when it helps someone make a better decision. If a bank can make a better lending decision, if a farmer can make a better production decision, if an agribusiness can identify a new market... then the data has moved from being information to becoming intelligence” said Carol Kyazze Kakooza
Chairperson FITSPA, Mr. Vincent Tumwijukye said that “If you do not have resources, you cannot have resilient infrastructure to be able to address security but also compound growth. When we talk about innovation, we are not talking about developing another feature, we are talking about changing business models and how people interact with one another"
The launch marks a major milestone in a seven-year journey for Axiom Zorn, which began by digitizing the identities of traditionally underserved rural populations and small businesses.
Rather than relying on generic, imported AI models, Axiom Zorn engineered DARB AI specifically around local African agricultural realities—incorporating local crop cycles, regional micro-climates, and informal cash flows.
With agriculture remaining a cornerstone of African economies, the company is positioning DARB AI as an open infrastructure layer for commercial banks, insurance providers, input suppliers, and development agencies seeking to scale impact-driven financing.
