Emmys welcome Ugandan filmmaker Leonard Amanya into esteemed institution

Ugandan filmmaker Leonard Amanya has achieved yet another win by joining the ranks of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, commonly known as The Emmys.

Amanya is a director, film juror, film consultant, and producer of the critically acclaimed film Crystal, which has won numerous awards, the most recent being the best Educational Film at the 6th of the Kaduna International Film Festival (KIFF 2023) in Nigeria.

In addition to his role as a filmmaker, Amanya is actively involved in shaping Uganda’s media landscape.

He serves as a key figure at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the proprietor of Amaka Film Productions Uganda, where he continues to nurture talent and produce more films.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, founded in 1969 and headquartered in New York City, is a revered institution comprising prominent figures from every sector of the television industry, representing over sixty countries worldwide, with a core mission to celebrate excellence in television programming beyond the borders of the United States.
