Dr.Kigozi commends AHF Uganda cares for tipping girl child on sanitary hygiene

A total of over 40 girl children drawn from across the country have undergone a three days training session related to sanitary hygiene as well as sexual health rights education to enlighten about making positive decisions in future.

The training which was spearheaded by the Aids healthcare foundation [AHF] Uganda cares was held at the Lweza training and conference center Kajjansi in Wakiso district at which Dr.Maggie Kigozi the former executive director Uganda investment Authority [UIA] and a renown senior entrepreneur made a technical presentation which enriched their reasoning in areas of entrepreneurship, sexual rights and health education and sanitary hygiene among others.  

The AHF Uganda cares coordinator for the HIV prevention programs and advocacy activities Martha Mbabazi Atai told this website on the sidelines of the workshop that they were implementing some of their activities such as the girl child sensitization workshop on sanitary hygiene which is part of the pre international girl child day commemoration ceremony.

Mbabazi pointed out that the climax of international girl child day commemoration shall be held tomorrow Thursday 10/10/24 with the National girl champion awards [GCA] ceremony organized by the SDGs secretariat office of the prime minister in collaboration with the ministry of gender labor and social development and hosted by AHF Uganda cares respectively.

She observed that the training helps sharpen the girls' reasoning capacity and appreciating the key roles they play in society such as demanding for effective policies that better their health and sexuality rights education as well as empowering them with skills that enable them to make positive and informed decisions in relation to their future world of tomorrow.  

Dr. Kigozi urged the girls to remain focused as they pursue their future by ensuring that they stay in school, avoid bad groups of friends who do not add any value to their future lifestyles as well as striving to pray to their God for wisdom and courage In order to overcome the surging negative societal challenges.

She commended AHF Uganda cares leadership as well as the senior medical experts that made key presentations during the workshop and anticipated that the knowledge acquired by the girls would make them informed people who would return back to their communities and pass on the key messages that enrich the wellbeing of other rural based vulnerable girls.  

‘I’ve been able to inform them about how they can survive in today’s challenging society by ensuring that they only do right things at all times as well as seeking new knowledge about their health, entrepreneurship and building Networks that propel them as positive forward moving girls’ noted Maggie.

On behalf of the participants Anuo Doreen an S4 student at Soroti SS appreciated the exposure to new knowledge and skills acquired courtesy of AHF Uganda cares saying she has been enlightened about how best to maneuver through the sexual health and rights education systems as well as skills of the making of reusable sanitary pads as she returns to Soroti.
