As vibrant as Uganda’s music industry is, songwriters usually work behind closed doors and rarely show face or even gain public recognition. There is a name that has remained hidden, yet powerful, one Nkwanga Geoffrey, popularly known as Dokta Brain.
He is an afrobeat-reggae artist and prolific songwriter who has penned some of the biggest hits for renowned artists like Bebe Cool, Winnie Nwagi, Sheebah Karungi, and Fille among others. While his face may not be familiar to the masses, his impact on the music scene is undeniable.
For over a decade, Dokta Brain has been silently crafting chart-topping songs behind the scenes. It was only recently that he took to TikTok to give himself a moment of self-appreciation.
In the video, he acknowledged his role in building different careers from behind bars. His dedication and talent have made him the go-to songwriter for many big brands in the industry.
Despite his immense success, he has decided that it’s time to step back and let other writers shine. He expressed his intentions to resign from the forefront of songwriting and focus on new endeavors. However, he wants to leave a lasting impact by offering 7 free songs each to 14 talented artists in his community.
He explains that he aims at creating songs that transcend borders and captivate audiences both in Uganda and abroad. He plans to make these songs unique, stepping away from the traditional Luganda language and exploring different sounds and languages.
