Big Tril advises upcoming artists: One hit song does not equal a fanbase

Rapper Big Tril has shared valuable advice for rising artists, stressing that one hit song does not automatically translate into a loyal fanbase.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok, Big Tril urged upcoming musicians to stay grounded and focus on consistency rather than prematurely celebrating success after releasing a single popular track.

A good song will bring you listeners. But it’s only when you release your next project and the next and if they are good enough that you begin to build a real fanbase. These are people who believe in you and are willing to listen to whatever you drop.

Big Tril warned against the common misconception among new artists who assume a viral hit means they’ve “made it” or have the “masanyalaze.”

He says that a fanbase is built over time, through quality and consistency, not just a moment of hype.

He also encouraged new artists to recognize and respect opportunities when established musicians extend support.

If you have an established artist who has a big fanbase willing to work with you, please understand the opportunity they are presenting. They’re giving you access to their audience, and that can push you three steps ahead in the industry.

Using his own journey as an example, Big Tril recalled how GNL Zamba played a key role in launching his career, as well as that of Mun G.

GNL signed us and introduced us to his fanbase. We later released more music and grew our own fanbases, but those first fans came from him.
