BAPS Charities holds successful blood donation campaign

Scores of nationals from India among other nations have responded to the call by the ministry of health urging people to donate blood in reducing the escalating shortage of blood much needed to save lives of accident victims.
This happened over the weekend when BAPS charities, an international religious and charitable organization, held a blood donation drive at their BAPS Shree Swaminarayan Mandir headquarters in Kampala where over 150 blood units were collected.
Ajay Kailash Singh, a senior official of BAPS charities told reporters that the day long exercise executed by the Uganda blood transfusion services (UBTS) that they annually hold two sessions of blood donation drives with aim to collect blood from its over 500 members in response to the call by the ministry of health.
He pointed observed that they have been instrumental in carrying out a series of charitable activities within the country among them renovating several schools across the country including those within the KCCA jurisdictions like Nakivubo Blue primary school, Kiswa, Nsambya Railway s, Katwe, Banda,St.Paul Mpererwe among others.

They also occasionally send out several items of humanitarian assistance to disaster prone communities as well as planting of trees as a deliberate strategy of conserving the environment.
He pointed out how BAPS was commended for making a contribution of 61m/= towards the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak alongside donation of several tonnes of food items among other humanitarian services.
