UBOS launches 3rd Plan for National Statistical Devpt to strengthen statistical system.
The Plan for National Statistical Develpment III will Expand spectrum towards quality statistics, Sustain statistical coordination & monitoring, Mainstream gender, Embrace innovative technologies among others.
As Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) joined the rest Africa’s statistical offices to celebrate the Statistics Day which happens on 18th November, the statistical office launched the Plan for National Statistical Development III (NPSD) aimed at strengthening statistical Advocacy in the National Statistical System, Strengthen the legal framework and To statistical regulations and guidelines, Broaden cooperation and partnership among MDAs and Institute sustained financing for Statistics.
While launching the PNSD III, at UBOS offices on 18th November 2021, The Acting Executive Director UBOS, Dr. Imelda Atai in picture above said that while celebrating the Africa Statistical Day with other African countries, UBOS has launched the Plan for National Statistical Development III with support from partners whish she said will strengthening statistical capacity in realizing social-cultural Development in Uganda among other benefits.
“Today is Africa Statistics Day and all African Countries are in celebration. Thanks to UN Women and
Africa Development Bank Group who have greatly supported the PNSD III. Its a framework that strengthens Statistical capacity” she said
The Acting Deputy country representative UN Women Uganda Adekemi Ndieli re-emphasises the need for Gender mainstreaming, and involvement of women in the development agenda.
“Women are key in development and we have constantly supported UBOS in attaining this” she said
Prof. Pamela Kasabiti from National Planning Authority, highlighted that if UBOS spearheads a robust community Information System, together with other ministries, agencies among others, development will be a reality including the new parish development model.
The theme of the PNSDIII is “Innovation, Modernisation and Transformation of the National Statistical System.”
