Over 100 students to benefit from the 2nd cohort of Equity Leaders Program scholars.
Equity Bank has officially announced the launch of the 2nd cohort of Equity Leaders Program scholars, where over 100 best-performing boys and girls in the 2022 UACE exams are to benefit following a selection exercise from across the country conducted to allow students to take part in the 2023 program.
This year's scholars according to the management of the program at Equity Bank will undergo a one-week induction process before they join Equity Bank for 3-6 months paid internship program where each scholar will get a monthly stipend and will experience on-the-job training and mentorship within various departments.
Speaking at the launch of the 2nd cohort of Equity Leaders Program scholars pictured above, on Monday 24th April 2023, Equity Bank Managing Director Anthony Kituuka said, "You have not joined the bank; you have joined a movement of social economic transformation."
The MD said that Equity is a movement of social-economic transformation that uses financial services to socially and economically empower people, businesses, and communities.
"You are beginning a journey that we believe is life-changing, you are going to be world changers. You are bright, young & we have the capacity to help make you the best that you can be, & in that objective, you will help us transform lives." he said
Last year Equity Bank Uganda launched the Equity Leaders Program and admitted its first cohort of 123 top-performing scholars from the 43 Districts.
The inaugural program was officiated by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Betty Amongi who hailed equity for investing in youth.
“As Government, we are excited to see that a local corporate brand has ventured into empowering the youth by giving them an opportunity to experience the corporate world and rub shoulders with top-class executives who will not only positively influence them into leadership roles but who have also dedicated a significant amount of their time to train and guide them, ” she said at the launch
The Equity Leaders Program has been designed uniquely and also offers scholars an opportunity to apply for admission and full financial aid at global universities through admission into the College Counselling Program. A program is aimed at exposing them to the global universities’ admission process and how to adapt to a new education system. This will allow them to join other scholars in top institutions such as Harvard, Stanford and Yale among others across various continents in the world.
