Currently, the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) has embarked on a countrywide NRM register updates for members in preparation for the next primaries and structure elections.

Members of the Transformer Cadres Association of Uganda (TCAU) Coordinated by (Rtd Lt) Magufuri Moses Mugisha after a closed-door meeting with The Special Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and the Manager Office of the National Chairman Hajjat Usiah Hadijah Namyalo, resolved to meet the TCAU members to address salient issues surrounding the forthcoming primary election to avoid mistakes cited by members in the previous primary election were many lost.

“With honorable Magufuri Mugisha Moses as our head of delegation, we did hold a cordial, and fruitful meeting with Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo the senior presidential adviser on political affairs/Bazukulu on the 12th March 2024. This meeting was held at the Office of the National Chairman in Kyambogo” he said

In a letter from the Office of the Coordinator TCAU, members are set to meet the ONC Manager Hajjat Namyalo on Friday 15th March 2024 for a consultative meeting at ONC ONC-based Kyambogo office.

“The purpose of this letter is to invite you for a consultative meeting with Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs/ Bazuukulu scheduled on 15th March 2024 at the National Chairman's Office in Kyambogo starting at 09:00am. Your attendance is of value to rebuilding NRM cadreship and a contribution to strengthening our democracy as a core pillar for NRM revolution” Magufuri said

The NRM primaries elections held on 4th October 2020, according to TCAU members wa characterized by vote rigging, chaos and violence due lack of updated voter register. The outcome of that election divided NRM members and weakened the overall party performance, from Presidential, parliamentary and local councils. It also forced many NRM members to contest as independents, but NRM leaning.

Magufuri said that members of the TCAU are also mobilizing countrywide to contribute to the current NRM register updates.

“As Transformers cadres association, we want to actively engage in party members mobilization to register and update their names during the ongoing NRM members’ registration exercise, which was flagged of by HE The President on the 28th February 2024” he said
