FOWODE Unveils Fundraising Dinner for Imara Women’s Center to advance economic empowerment.

Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) an organization that offers a platform for Ugandan women’s learning, networking, sharing experiences, and advocating for gender equality and equity in the decision-making process has announced a fundraising drive to establish Imara Women’s Center aimed at serving as a vital catalyst in pushing the empowerment, growth, and healing of women and girls in Uganda.
The fundraising campaign will be firstly through a fundraising dinner that has been organized to take place on 15th June 2024, at Serena Hotel in Kampala.
The Imara Women’s Centre according to FOWODE will be tailored as a haven for women, a vibrant hub for creativity, imagining, and planning together; and a launch for campaigns that challenge gender injustices and promote gender equality.
During a press conference held on Thursday 14th March 2024 about The Imara Women’s Centre Fundraiser Dinner at FOWODE offices in Ntinda, Elizabeth Ampeire, The Programs Head said that the Imara Women’s Center is part of FOWODE initiatives an opportunity to support the advancement of women's equality.
“Gender equality has thrived on the solidarity of women and to keep thriving and continuity, we call upon all women to continue investing in growing spaces and programs to strengthen collaborations. FOWODE has been at the forefront of advancing gender equality in Uganda over the last 28 years and presents a groundbreaking opportunity, the Imara Women's Center” she said
She said that Ugandan women still face harsh incidences, limited economic opportunities, and under-representation in leadership among other challenges, adding that FOWODE UGANDA acknowledges the impactful advocacy for women’s rights.
Nasali Masanso Esther, Senior Communications at FOWODE called upon leaders, stakeholders, well-wishers, and entire Ugandans to join the Imara Dinner for an evening celebrating the achievements of Uganda women who are raising crucial funds for the women’s center.
“We believe that the Imara Women's Center will be one of the spaces that enables us to secure gains made while aspiring for more, this center will run as a social enterprise by FOWODE for the benefit of the women's movement,” she said
The available avenues for mobilization for the Imara Women’s Center include: Attending the Dinner and purchasing individual tickets at UGX 250,000 or a VIP table starting at UGX 6 Million and sponsoring an award category at UGX10 Million among other avenues.
