Kabingo piped water project commissioned. NWSC to serve over 400 people 13 villages of Kamwenge district.
Following the commissioning and official handover of the Kabingo Piped water and sanitation system in Kamwenge district, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) will be servicing over 400 people living in 13 villages in the district.
The people of Kabingo and Kamwenge in general has now a reason to celebrate the water development in their area.
The project which was commissioned on 12th May 2022 pictured below, contains a 7 Billion solar run system, contracted to Royal Techno Industries Ltd, and comprises six pumping stations that total 40m³/hr and a 150m³ steel reservoir serving 348 connections.
The ceremony was attended by the Assistant Commissioner of the Sewerage Services Division-Ministry of Water and Environment, Eng. Felix Twinomucunguzi and other Ministry Officials, Kamwenge District RDC-Mr. Isaiah Byarugaba Kanyamahane, Kamwenge District LCV Chairperson-Mr. Joseph Karungi, Water for People Country Director-Mrs. Brenda Achiro, Kabingo Local Leadership, Kamwenge District Technical Staff, NWSC, Kabingo residents and more.
NWSC pledged to take good care of the system as they strive to delight customers in Kabingo Sub-County.
The water access rates in Kamwenge according to the ater spply atlas from Minitry of Water and Environment vary from 56 % in Bwizi Sub-County to 95 % in Kahunge Sub-County. Kamwenge has 1,573 domestic water points which serve a total of 250,618 people – 226,409 in rural areas. 194 water points have been non-functional for over 5 years and are considered abandoned. Kamwenge has 1 piped schemes.
