Businessman Hamis Kiggundu, KCCA, Church resolve to partner to standardize Nakivubo drainage system.

Following various communication exchanges between city authorities, The Catholic Church and Tycoon Hamis Kiggundu, the trio have finally come to a consensus to work together to standardize Nakivubo drainage system

KCCA Officials led by the Acting Executive Director Mr. Frank Rusa on Wednesday 20th November 2024 visited the site in question to monitor the situation at Nakivubo stadium and the ongoing constructions around, allegedly blocking the route to the nearby Catholic Church and also causing floods in the area.

Kiggundu informed the media that he has temporarily halted the construction of the drainage system to enable KCCA experts to take a survey on the drainage before resuming works.

“ KCCA has taken a further practical step to come on ground and make physical assessment on what is happening to make resolution to the problem from a realistic and reasonable point of view” he said

While pledging to standardize at his cost, he said that the dialogues with KCCA more underlying issues within the city will be addressed.

Talking about the Catholic access issue, Hamis appreciates guidance from the head of the Catholic Church of Uganda, Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere on how church retains full access from its believers.

“The church is a strong foundation and here we are talking about God, I can not block any paths leading to God because I am also a God fearing person, it is the almighty who accepts me to breath and empowers me to make wealth” he acknowledged.

The acting ED KCCA Mr. Frank Rusa said, his visit with the entire team was about getting facts and proving what people have been talking about, however, KCCA is going to do everything in order to ensure that order is restored and vendors around are not disturbed by the issues of floods and have their properties safe.
