Prisons Chief Bisanga Pledges to Support Namilyango College Sports Talent Dev’t Agenda

The Assistant Commissioner General [ACG] of Uganda Prison Services in charge of human resources management at the Uganda Prison Services, Hillary Bisanga, has pledged to work with Namilyango College in building their sports talent identification and training capabilities to ensure they better their competition agenda.
Bisanga made the remarks 5th July 2025 while officiating at the Namilyango College sports Day inter house competitions at the college were Hanlon house emerged overall winners scooping 511 points to bag a trophy and bull followed closely by Heweston,[460], Billington [456] in 3rd position, Reensick [451] and Doyle in 5th position among the 12 competing houses respectively.
‘The Prisons among other sister forces is the single biggest recruiter of a diverse range of professional sports categories which pledges to continue to identify, recruit, train and deploy sports men and women to represent Uganda at all levels of professional competition engagements across the globe targeting schools as our immediate catchment area and Namilyango is one of such key catchment area for such talents’ he observed.
Bisanga, who doubles as the boss of the Prison’s Maroon FC, said he was impressed by the college parade match, where boys showcased their parade skills and vowed to send experts to offer technical training sessions and secure vital equipment to boost the capabilities of the band unit.

The Namilyango College old boys Association [NACOBA] chairperson for Cohort 1990/96, John Baptist Matovu extended a donation of 12 lawn tennis rackets, 200 balls and offered to repair the courts as a give back contribution to their college.
The College Headmaster, Constantine Sajjabi Mpuuga appreciated the support from various stakeholders, saying they are seeking funding support from the board to expand their sports arena pitches in the face of increasing numbers of students as they focus further to empower the boys through the sports talent identification agenda program.
He said the college is actively ranked as the top in participating in a variety of sporting disciplines among them Rugby, Cricket, Lawn and Table tennis and would soon send a team to Kenya to participate in the East African games at Kakamega as well as having recently sent a team of three boys to Algeria among other regional and global sports encounters.
‘All these activities we do to empower the boys to become competitive and secure positions such that when they advance to University, they are capable of becoming future professional sportsmen earning from their sweat,’ he noted.
