The winner of the fifth round of the National Rally Championship (NRC5) took place on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Hoima and Kikuube has said that in a bid to attract investment and sponsorship of the rally sport, there is need for sports regulators to issue a gazzetted rally calendars to tally with the pace of the rally players.  

He said that the RR Team has engage the sports authorities about the issues of the sports calendar but the response is taking a long which said is affectimg the sport.

“Regulators need to release the gazzetted rally calendrers to get sponsors. They need to be at the same speed” he said.

Rajiv Ruparelia revealed this during a Victory BBQ party organised by RR Team to celebrate his victory held at Kabira Country Club on Sunday 24th October 2021.

The party was attended by friends, fans, journalists, singer Ykee Benda and comedian Salvador Idringi.

The Kabalega Rally Edition win was also Rajiv’s maiden National Rally Championship victory.

The next and final round of the championship will head to Jinja on 26-28 November.

Commenting on how COVID-19 has affected the sports fraternity, he said that there is need develop a mindset to live with the pandemic that being suppressed by it.

He highlighted that the RR Team has plans to buy new sports cars for most talented drivers.

“We are waiting for sponsors to get on board. We plan to buy a car for the most talented driver under RR Team” he said

The drivers and co-drivers of the Kabalega rally 2021 included:

Winner Rajiv Ruparelia with Enock Olinga as co-driver on car number 62 pictured above, 2nd in the race was Duncan Mubiru and Musa Nsubuga as co-driver- car number 09, followed by Ronald Sebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa as co-driver-car number 03, Omar Malanga with H. Mukuye as co-driver on car number 5, Alwi Hassan with J.Mwange-car number 04, and Fred Busulwa with Joseph Bongole car number 06 respectively.
