Mukono:

On Saturday all roads headed to Namilyango College for the 122 years of the existence of the college which has allowed thousands of citizens to serve the world in various employable portfolios.

The colorful ceremony took place at the college sports arena and was attended by thousands of old boys, parents, and stakeholders which was characterized by a series of entertainment stints from the student community which put up thrilling music interludes including the scout troop hosting the color party ceremony, traditional dances, reciting of poems, live live stage jazz band performance among others.

The main celebrant was the Emeritus Bishop of Lugazi catholic diocese Bishop Mathias Ssekamanya who congratulated the collegians upon reaching this great day and urged them to love one another, especially during this Easter festive season.

He said the diocese collectively appreciates the good working relationship with the college and called on the student fraternity to always aim for the best future by way of taking in seriously the teachings from their teachers, parents and administrators.

The chief guest was Prime Minister Robbinah Nabbanja who was represented by Hon. Norbert Mao the Cabinet Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs who urged the college old boys to always stand with their former school in times of need by effectively joining the different disciplines'  Alumni Associations to offer both financial and moral support in support of the college projects.

‘The president is aware of this college day and pledges his efforts to support the college in achieving its set development goals' noted Nabbanja.

Hon. Mao an old boy of the college said he will use his position in government to lobby for funding support for the college such that the strategic development goals are achieved without delay

The headmaster Constantine Mpuuga Sajjabbi   said they will engage the government to ensure that they are not struck off the list of those traditional schools that the government has reportedly suspended from its infrastructure renovation fund as this shall affect their college expansion agenda.

Mpuuga registered his disappointment to the prime minister as chief guest of the day by lamenting about how the government had previously promised to support the renovation of the structures in traditional schools but suddenly and unfortunately funding was cut off due to mounting pressure from parents who insisted that government-aided private schools are reportedly charging high fees despite getting huge funding support from the government.

It is reported that the Ministry of Education recently engaged parliament about the fees matter and the house ordered that funding be extended to aid traditional schools be withdrawn and plans made to transfer such funds to privately owned schools that are equally struggling to survive during these hard financial times.
