IUEA set to install Amina Mohammed as new Chancellor

International University of East Africa (IUEA) has set 15th February 2023 as the installation date for their new and 2nd University Chancellor Ambassador Dr. Amina Chawir Mohammed, following the death of their founding Chancellor, The late Professor Tumusiime Mutebile since 2010, whom the Vice Chancellor, Prof Emeka Akaezuwa described as very strong footing and a path of excellence and integrity to the university.
The New IUEA Chancellor Amb. Dr. Amina Chawir Mohammed is a Lawyer, currently serving as the Executive Director of The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) coordinating responses to environmental issues within the United Nations system.
During her speech at a youth forum recently she said "Fine words do not produce food - I am counting on Youth to be the change agents & torchbearers our world so desperately needs. My job description is simple: to build a world where every girl & boy has the tools & support to make their dreams a reality.”
Reputation Poll International early this year recognized her as the 6th “Most Reputable Personality in Africa” placing her among the other 100 eminent personalities aimed at recognizing and celebrating her achievements for making a positive impact in Africa.
According to the IUEA management, the new chancellor is expected to usher in new university leadership, expertise, and guidance to the institute.
“The installation is will bring new leadership, fresh perspectives, and a wealth of expertise to the institution. The university community is in no doubt that the new chancellor will be instrumental in guiding the institution towards even more outstanding achievements and helping it to meet the challenges of the future head-on” the statement partly reads.
Amb. Amina is also a former Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Heritage, and Culture in Kenya. She previously served as chairwoman of the International Organization for Migration and the World Trade Organization's General Council, as well as Assistant Secretary-General among other placements.

International University Of East Africa (IUEA) is a University licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) situated in Kansanga, Kampala City, It’s a multi-cultural university with students coming across Africa and beyond focusing mainly on technology, innovation, Legal, Business courses among others. The university has exhibited various technological advancements including electric motorcycles, tractors, apps among others.
