Hon. Joseph Mukasa Confirms 2026 MP Bid for Makindye-Sabagabo

Hon. Joseph Mukasa has officially announced that he will run for Member of Parliament for Makindye-Sabagabo Municipality in the 2026 elections. He will contest on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, under the slogan: “People First, Service, Equity and Transformation.” His declaration has been warmly welcomed by many residents who believe it’s time for real change.
Mukasa is a familiar face in Makindye-Sabagabo. For more than 20 years, he has worked closely with the community. He understands the problems people face—bad roads, youth unemployment, poor health services, insecurity, and a lack of quality education. He knows what it feels like for a mother to walk long distances to a health center with no medicine or for a youth with skills to remain jobless. These challenges are not new to him; he has lived and worked through them.
As Executive Director of HELP Uganda, Mukasa has supported thousands of young people and women by offering training in tailoring, baking, hairdressing, and other hands-on skills. These programs have helped families start small businesses and break out of poverty. He has also worked with major partners like USAID, CDC, and the World Bank, showing that he has the experience and ability to bring development.
In his campaign, Mukasa promises to work for better roads, improved drainage, and quality services in health and education. He plans to hold town hall meetings regularly so that citizens can raise their voices and take part in decision-making. He is focused on empowering women and the youth and creating a cleaner, safer environment.
Above all, Mukasa calls himself a servant leader. He listens, he understands, and he acts.
This is not his first time in politics. He previously ran for the same MP seat in 2011–2016. Even though he didn’t win, he continued serving the people through his NGO and the Rotary Club. His work is still visible in many communities today.
Speaking about his vision, he said: “Makindye-Sabagabo deserves dignity, fairness, and real transformation. I am ready to speak for you in Parliament. Together, we can build a better future.”
Mukasa has pledged to be transparent, accessible, and accountable. He stands firmly against corruption, vote-buying, and injustice.
The people are ready for change, and so is he.
