Chancellor UTAMU Bitature calls for enhanced research and technology programs at the 7th graduation

Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) held its 7th graduation ceremony at its new main campus in Kungu, Nansana Municipality on November 24th, 2022.

More than 300 students graduated from disciplines of science and technology at diploma, bachelor, and postgraduate levels.

During the graduation ceremony, the university pledged to continue offering academic support to the community and enhancing its programs in research, innovation, and technology which has for has according to the leadership of the university kept them highly ranked.

The Chancellor (UTAMU) Dr. Patrick Bitature while giving his speech at the graduation, said that in order for the university to remain proving an impact on the community, it should continue offering and focusing on programs it undertakes that make it shine.   

“UTAMU should remain focused on creating impact globally in technology and management education, research and innovation. Thus, the focus of UTAMU should be reflected in the academic programs it runs and research and innovations it continues to undertake" he said

Dr Patrick applauded the work of stakeholders that have made the university what it is.

"All that UTAMU has achieved should not have been possible without the input of the various stakeholders. I thank both former and current members of: Board of Directors, University Council, the University Senate, and the University Management”  said

Minister for Works and Transport Gen Katumba Wamala was happy to note that UTAMU is always ranked among the top 10 Universities in Uganda by global University rankings and encouraged them to aim at being among the top three (3) in Uganda.

“Today, we not only have twelve (12) public universities with more in the offing but we also have over 50 private universities. The NRM government has increased access to high education by establishing at least one public university in each region of Uganda and liberalizing the education sector which has led to the growth of private universities,’’ Gen Katumba Wamala enlightened.

Ruyingo Annah Elise who graduated in Masters in Monitoring and Evaluation and Mr. Byamugisha Joshua Jovan in a Bachelor of Science in computer security and Forensics were the best graduands at postgraduate and undergraduate levels respectively.

Prof Venasius Baryamureba, the chairman board of directors at UTAMU mentioned that UTAMU is a God-favored institution; which can be testified on several occasions where God has stepped into UTAMU’s situations to make a worthwhile difference. He tipped Graduates to be leaders, movers, and change-makers, and above all not to take God’s favor for granted.
