Aucho Khalid’s side who won 1-0 away to the Ethiopian side that eliminated Ugandan champions SC Villa at an earlier stage were in no giving mood scoring six goals at home.

Substitute Azizi Ki scored a hat trick with other goals coming from Clement Mzize, Yahya Mudathir and new signing Clatous Chama who opened the scores in the first half.

Elsewhere, heavy weights Mamelodi Sundowns, home to Ugandan legend Denis Onyango, champions Al Ahly and five-time winners Al Ahly all qualified for the next lucrative stage.

And for the first time in five years, 1995 champions, Orlando Pirates secured their place in the group stages of the competition for the first time in five years after overcoming Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy 1-0 in Orlando, Soweto.

Sundowns beat Eswatini’s Mbabane Swallows 4-0 to win 8-0 on aggregate, Al Ahly cruised past Kenya’s Gor Mahia with a 3-0 win in Cairo to comfortably march into the group stages. The record-title holders came into the clash with a comfortable 3-0 first leg win, which they comfortably replicated in Cairo.

TP Mazembe, five-time champions eliminated Zambia’s Red Arrows 4-2 after wins both home and away.

The shocking result saw DR Congo’s AS Maniema Union go past Angola’s Petro de Luanda to reach the group stages for the first time at the expense of seasoned campaigners.

Egypt’s Pyramids also overcame a scare by Rwanda’s APR in Cairo to win 3-1 after going a goal down in the early stage securing a 4-2 aggregate win after a 1-1 draw in Kigali.

The Caf Champions League action continues on Sunday with five fixtures to decide the other sides to join the group stages.
