Yasin hanging in there as ARC contention narrows

Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba utilized the super rally alternative to get back into competition in search of a first WRC Safari Rally finish.

The Moil Rally Team broke a front left arm in the Friday morning stage, forcing an early retirement from the rally.

However, the crew would restart the rally on Saturday under super rally; with an accumulative time penalty from all the stages missed on Friday.

But as Saturday’s weather changes caused drama for several crews, Yasin in the Ford Fiesta Rally2 kept a clean run to survive the day.

He finished leg three 5th in the Africa Rally Championship and 22nd overall.

“We had a smooth day. We tried to be so cautious throughout the day as the conditions were not favourable for anyone,” said Katumba.

“We are still focused to secure our first finish and secure some points for ARC,” headed.

Yasin’s ARC counterparts all had a taste of the Safari rally toughness.

Reigning African Rally champion Karan Patel’s rally ended with an engine failure while a steering rack retired Samman Vohra on Saturday.

The Safari ends this Sunday with five stages to cover on its final leg.
