Wakiso Giants edge Maroons in five-goal thriller

Wakiso Giants FC secured their first win of the season on Friday after overcoming Maroons FC at the Prisons Ground in Luzira.

The Purple Sharks who had a brilliant start to the game eventually won 3-2 despite Maroons attempt to salvage at least a point.

The visitors took the lead as early as the fourth minute through new signing Marvin Oshaba.

Another new recruit in Herbert Asiimwe doubled the advantage for Wakiso Giants a minute after the hour mark. This was his second goal in as many games having scored against Soltilo Bright Stars on matchday one.

After recess, Baden Mujaheed Ogama pulled one back for the home in the 66th minute.

However, Wakiso Giants were determined to secure all three points and restored the two-goal cushion moments later through Samuel Nsubuga.

Ogama was on the scoresheet for the Prison Warders again in the closing stages of the game but the visitors defended resiliently to take maximum points.

Victory takes Wakiso Giants to fourth place on four points while Maroons are 12th on the table with one point.

Wakiso Giants will return to action on Friday next week at home to new comers Mbale Heroes FC while Maroons will visit Express FC a day later.
