Therefore, this is a chance for both sides to see what players fit in the best. Plus, managers can begin to make a final decision as to who gets on the plane to Qatar.

This game, although it is USA vs Japan, actually takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany. A neutral site game before a neutral site tournament.

With the game happening in Germany, the 8:15 a.m. kickoff time for those on the east coast is the most practical overall. In Japan, the game does not start until 9:15 in the evening. USA vs Japan

If anything, the USA vs Japan fixture just an opportunity for two sides to get experience in before returning back to the club side.

Remember, the World Cup is in November, and this game, as well as the following game against Saudi Arabia, is the last chance the USMNT has to play together in a live match until the World Cup opener against Wales.
