Uganda Prisons outwit Zanzibar’s KVZ to qualify for semifinals | 2025 East Africa Netball Championship

Uganda Prisons Netball Club qualified for the semifinals of the 2025 East African Netball Club Championship.

This followed a comprehensive 73-43 triumph over Zanzibar’s KVZ on Friday afternoon at a fully packed Amaan Indoor Stadium.

Christened as the Prison Queens, the Ugandan side extended their unbeaten run in group B to four wins.

Uganda Prisons recovered from a 13-14 slip in the opening quarter, to take the lead by half time 30-22.

By the third quarter, KVZ trailed 33-49 and by the final whistle at the end of the last quarter, Prisons won the game 73-43.

Stella Nanfuka, Sharon Pita, Lillian Ajio, Christine Kango Namulumba, Dorothy Tabia, Nashim Khadaala, Tausi Mumena, and Malisera Akello were outstanding in for Prisons.

The victory shows our hunger and focus. We are ready for the knockout stage and beyond.

Prisons face APR on Sunday, May 18, at 1:30 PM (East African Time) to complete their Group B campaign.

They join fellow Ugandan powerhouses NIC and KCCA in the knockout stage.
