Uganda Martyrs University defeats St Lawrence University to lift 2024-2025 football trophy

2024-2025 Pepsi University Football League (UFL):

• Final: Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi 3-0 St Lawrence University
• Third place: Islamic University In Uganda 0-1 Bugema University

Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi convincingly defeated St Lawrence University 3-0 during the grand finale of the 2024-2025 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) played at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Calvin Peter Emayu, Crispus Sseruwunge and Giu Obedi scored for the champions.

Emayu opened the scoring business on the sunny afternoon before hundreds of spectators six minutes after the half hour mark.

With three minutes to the mandatory half-time break, Sseruwunge made it two as the Nkozi based institution led 2-0 going to the recess.

Giu chipped over the advancing goalkeeper in the 56^th minute, thanks to a defense splitting through ball from Ivan “Kanda” Agamile.

By this time, the contest looked done and dusted with victory destined for Eric Kisuze’s coached side who have now won the trophy three times.

Uganda Martyrs’ University Nkozi earned the glittering trophy and gold medals, won by Nkumba University last season.

In the early kick off to determine the third and fourth placed teams, Bugema University edged Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) 1-0.

Mark Innocent Musuk scored the only goal for Bugema University who earned bronze.

Over the years, the Pepsi University Football League has earned the due respect and commanded a big following given the platform granted to the players to showcase their talents.
