Uganda Cricket receives equipment from Bankstown District

Uganda Cricket Association has received an assortment of equipment from Bankstown District Cricket Club.
The consignment includes facility equipment such as rollers and rain covers, playing equipment such as bats, pads, and batting gloves, training equipment such as tennis balls and tennis rackets, and apparel for both boys and girls.
Jackson Kavuma, the Chairman Uganda Cricket Association, is grateful to Bankstown District Cricket Club for the donation.
The equipment will not only enhance grassroots-level playing experience but also provide valuable training opportunities to various stakeholders. We greatly appreciate Bankstown for their continued commitment to supporting the growth of cricket in Uganda. We’re confident that this donation will significantly move cricket development forward.
The relationship between Bankstown and the Uganda Cricket Association dates back as far as 2005. Brian Freedman, then Team Manager of the Australia U-19 team at the 2004 U-19 World Cup, saw a Ugandan team sharing equipment, and he made it a personal vow to mobilise cricket equipment from his community every year. Twenty years later, the equipment has satisfied the need for quality equipment for cricket programs in Uganda.
A container full of equipment collected from the community in Bankstown District throughout the year was received, and it will go towards supporting schools and cricket hubs in Uganda.
Cricket equipment is very expensive and hard to find in Ugandan sports shops and this donation will go a long way in helping support the growth of the sport in Uganda.
