Uganda Cranes and The Gambia Scorpions have shared the spoils in a 1-all draw during an international build played at the Stade de Marrakech Annexe pitch on Monday, 9th Jun 2025.
Rogers Kassim Mato put Uganda Cranes ahead with Manneh Alasana replying for The Gambia with a well struck penalty.
Both goals arrived in the opening first half with Mato of Vardar Skopje in North Macedonia heading Patrick Jonah Kakande’s curling corner kick in the 25th minute.
The Gambia missed the opportunity to find the equalizer when they hit the woodwork in the 35th minute with goalkeeper Isima Watenga already beaten.
The equalizer eventually arrived with Alassana, a forward with Hibernian Football Club in Scotland powerfully directed a penalty past Watenga who had dived to his left.
Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa replaced the injured Watenga with seven minutes into the second half.
Uganda Cranes head coach Joseph Paul Put made a couple of changes in the second half; introducing defender Hilary Mukundane, Travis Mutyaba, Denis Omedi, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza and later Enock Ssebagala.
Omedi and Allan Oyirwoth came close with half chances missed in the closing stanza.
After falling 0-3 in the first build up on Friday against Cameroon, Put made several changes to the Uganda starting eleveen.
