St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde triumphs in 2025 USSSA Mukono zone basketball championship

2025 USSSA Mukono Zone Basketball championship:

Finals:

  • Boys: St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde 42-10 Seeta Naama
  • Girls: Seroma Christian High School 38-28 Seeta Naama

Most Valuable Players:

  • Boys: Ichut Agok (St Cyprian High School, Kyabakadde)
  • Girls: Taliba Melissa (Seroma Christian High School)

There were wild celebrations as St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde lifted the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Mukono Zone Basketball boys’ trophy.

This happened after a two-day’s explosive but grueling championship hosted at the St Mary’s College Lugazi courts.

Action threw off on Good Friday with over 20 schools from Buikwe, Mukono, Lugazi, Mukono and Kayunga districts taking part and climaxed on Holy Saturday.

Mukono based St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde overcame Seeta Naama 42-10 during the one-side finale to lift the boy’s title; dominating all the quarters; 7-0, 15-02, 29-04 and 42-10.

“This is a humbling victory and a big achievement for the school. I thank the school management, players, coaches and our fans. We turn the focus to the nationals coming up in Bukedea district” Malcom Omondi, the team captain revealed.

St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde had defeated Seeta A-Level Campus 35-26 in the explosive semi-finals; to avenge their loss during the Mukono district final.

During the other semi-final, St Balikuddembe SS Kisoga lost 26-29 to Seeta Naama.

St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde players were rewarded with a glittering trophy and gold medals.

The team was composed of Malcom Omondi (Captain), Slyus Kato, James Moding, Sijin Makeny Makur, Lam Choul Manyal, George Matenga Daudi, Wal Wakow, Lueth Maker Nyok, Augustin Bikanye, Joseph Ngayanzoto, Israel Ngakia Kove, Fahad Kalumba Lukabwe, Aman Gulan and Chris Buhendwa.

Girls:

Seroma Christian High School edged Seeta Naama 38-28 to take the girls’ trophy and gold medals.

Naalya SS had lost 28-20 to Seeta Naama in the semi-finals whilst champions Seroma Christian High School overcame St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde 35-24 during the other semi-final.

Most Valuable Players (MVP’s):

Ichut Agok (St Cyprian High School, Kyabakadde) and Taliba Melissa (Seroma Christian High School) were the boys and girls’ respective Most Valuable Players (MVP’s) for the tournament.

Qualified schools to the nationals:

Four boys’ schools; St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde (champions), Seeta Naama, Seeta A-Level Campus and St Balikuddembe Kisoga qualified to the nationals.

For the girls, three schools to include Seroma Christian High School (Champions), Seeta Naama and Naalya SS made the grade for the nationals due in Bukedea district come early May 2025.

All the group stage matches were played on Good Friday with the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals played on Holy Saturday.
